The Things We Bring Along
There is a funny thing that happens every summer in the Sea to Sky. We load up our vehicles with far more than we actually need.
A towel for a beach stop that may or may not happen. A notebook that might never leave the bag. A deck of cards for those long ferry waits. A favourite pair of sunglasses. A tote bag filled with little comforts. An extra layer. A scent that somehow smells like summer.
If you really think about it, none of these things are essential.
You could spend a perfectly good day at the lake without them. And yet, year after year, we bring them along. Maybe because the objects we carry tell a story about who we are.
The well-loved Turkish towel isn’t just for drying off after a swim. It’s for spontaneous picnics, sunset beach hangs, and the afternoons that stretch longer than expected. A notebook isn’t really about writing. It’s about holding onto a thought before it disappears. A reminder of a trail you want to hike, a business idea that arrives out of nowhere, or a memory you don’t want to forget. A favourite hat means you’re heading somewhere outdoors. The right tote bag somehow ends up carrying everything from snacks and sunscreen to wildflowers picked on the walk back to the car.
These things aren’t necessities; they’re companions.
The Sea to Sky has a way of inviting us to slow down and pay attention. Long summer evenings and cold lake swims. Roadside viewpoints. The kind of places that remind us that life is often found in the spaces between plans, and maybe that’s why we bring these objects with us. Not because we need them. But because they help us experience the moment a little more fully.
They become part of our rituals. Part of our adventures. Part of the memories we carry home.
OUR PRODUCTS
At Copper & Fern, we’re drawn to the kinds of goods that quietly earn their place in your life. The ones that get tossed into the truck before a weekend away. The ones that live in the bottom of your beach bag all summer. The ones that become familiar companions through seasons of adventures, big and small. Because sometimes the most meaningful things we own aren’t the things we need… they’re the things we choose to bring along.
So here’s to summer in the Sea to Sky.
To spontaneous detours, lake days, mountain views, and the little objects that somehow make the journey feel even better.
