Art Print - The Twin Sisters, North Vancouver BC
By Jennifer Alton:
Ch'ich'iyúy Elxwíkn - The ‘Twin Sisters.’
Watching proudly over the city of Vancouver and Howe Sound, the Twin Sisters sit keeping guard over our beautiful home.
They can be seen from almost anywhere in Vancouver and hold onto the last few golden moments of sunlight before the night falls.
Known more commonly as “The Lions”, these two peaks are a statement of peace, with a rich history in the land where they reside.
In a Squamish tale, two of the Chiefs daughters were made immortal in the mountain face, bringing peace to two warring tribes.
"And on the mountain crest the Chief's daughters can be seen wrapped in the suns, the snows, the stars of all seasons, for they have stood in this high place for thousands of years, and will stand for thousands of years to come, guarding the peace of the Pacific Coast and the quiet of the Capilano Canyon."
Now they stand, for us to admire and remember the tales of the land that we share, and to keep the history running through the hearts of BC.
This piece is printed on a high quality semi-textured art paper.
